Obama ends 2011 as the most loved political leader in the world on social media, while David Cameron finishes the year the most hated, according to Amplicate data.
50% of opinions on Obama were positive in 2011, which is a lower percentage of positive opinions than for some other politicians but the volume of opinions on Obama was so much larger than for any other leader that he earned his title to the most loved political leader on social media.
David Cameron also clearly earned his title of most hated political leader on social media in 2011. 69% of opinions on the British prime minister posted by social media users were no votes for the man who vetoed the latest EU treaty.
Opinions on Cameron displayed a variety of perspectives, from the historical “THE BIGGEST WANKER IN HISTORY” to the anatomical “David Cameron is a smug, selfish twat with a massive shiny forehead, a huge nose and terrible skin.” Cameron was followed in the most hated rankings by ousted Egyptian leader Hosni Mubarak. 66% of opinions on the man who led Egypt for thirty years were protestations of hate in 2011.
Vladimir Putin had the highest percentage of positive opinions on social media for any political leader. 99% of opinions posted on the Russian leader were positive in 2011. A figure that no one would dispute. And if you should, you wouldn’t be around very long.
More bizarre still, Kim Jong Ill who passed away on a train earlier this week was the third most popular political leader on social media in 2011. A brave new world we live in.
